Take Profit Trader Rules Explained: Test, PRO and PRO+
Take Profit Trader Test and PRO rules in plain English: targets, end-of-day drawdown, no daily loss limit, consistency, the PRO buffer and withdrawals.

Take Profit Trader (TPT) runs a three-stage futures program. You pass a one-step Test, trade a simulated PRO account and may be invited to a live PRO+ account. The rules change at each stage, and the biggest change is the drawdown. This guide sets out each rule as TPT's official site and help center showed it on 3 November 2026.
The three stages
- Test: a simulated evaluation with a profit target and risk rules. No withdrawals.
- PRO: a simulated funded account. Withdrawals from day one, 80/20 split.
- PRO+: a live-market account. Orders route to the exchange through Tradovate. 90/10 split.
Sizes run from 25K to 150K: 25K, 50K, 75K, 100K and 150K. Trading is in futures on CME, CBOT, NYMEX and COMEX. Stocks, options, forex, crypto and CFDs are not offered.
Test account rules
Profit target
The target is 6% of the account: $1,500 (25K), $3,000 (50K), $4,500 (75K), $6,000 (100K) and $9,000 (150K). TPT's own consistency example uses a $3,000 target on a 50K account. Full rows for each size are in our rules database, starting with the Take Profit Trader Test 50K.
End-of-day trailing drawdown
TPT's help center lists the maximum trailing drawdown for each size:
- 25K: $1,500
- 50K: $2,000
- 75K: $2,500
- 100K: $3,000
- 150K: $4,500
The drawdown is calculated at the end of the day, not mid-trade. Your minimum balance sits the drawdown amount below your highest end-of-day balance. It is shown in the Control Center as "Minimum account balance".
TPT's own example: a 25K account starts with a $23,500 minimum. Close day one at $26,000 and the minimum rises to $24,500. Once the minimum reaches the $25,000 starting balance, it stops trailing.

Daily loss limit: removed
The Test has no daily loss limit. TPT's current promo and FAQ pages say "no daily loss limits". Our database notes that the homepage showed the old 50K limit of $1,100 struck through as removed.
When we fetched the homepage today, its rules table did not load in our tool. We confirmed the removal from TPT's current official FAQ and promo pages instead. Check the homepage yourself before you buy.
No daily limit cuts both ways. A bad morning won't stop you out at a fixed number. But the trailing drawdown is now the only thing between a bad day and a failed Test. A personal daily stop is worth setting. Our daily loss limit guide explains how firms usually measure one.
Minimum trading days
You must trade at least 3 days. TPT says the fastest path to PRO is 3 trading days, as long as you hit the target and follow every other rule.
Consistency rule
TPT's consistency article says no single trading day may exceed 50% of your total net profit. The formula is your highest profit day divided by your net P/L.
A breach does not fail the Test. You keep trading until your biggest day falls below half your total. TPT's example: on a 50K account, a $2,000 first day and $1,100 after that gives $3,100 net. The big day is about 65% of the total, so you must keep trading. Use our consistency calculator to see how much more you need.
Other Test rules
- Contract limits: each size has a maximum contract allotment. Check TPT's help center for the current numbers.
- News: trading the news is allowed in the Test.
- Copy trading: allowed on your own Test accounts.
- Multiple accounts: no stated limit on Test accounts.
- Overnight: our database lists overnight holding as not allowed. Confirm the daily close time in TPT's help center.
- Time limit: none stated. The monthly subscription keeps billing until you pass or cancel.
Test prices, resets and fees
- Monthly price: $150 (25K), $170 (50K), $245 (75K), $330 (100K) and $360 (150K), per our rules database. TPT's homepage says a failed Test costs "at MOST, $360".
- Resets: optional and unlimited, from $79 depending on size.
- PRO activation: the homepage lists a one-time $130 fee.
- Current deal: code NOFEE50 gives 50% off Test accounts for life and no PRO activation fee, per TPT's current promo page. TPT calls it a limited-time promotion with no stated end date.

PRO account rules
Passing moves you into a simulated PRO account. The rules shift in three important ways.
Intraday drawdown
PRO uses an intraday drawdown, not end-of-day. It can follow open profit during a trade, so a winner that reverses can raise your floor. Traders used to the Test's end-of-day rule need to adjust. Read our trailing vs static drawdown guide for how the two types behave.
The buffer and the split
- The buffer equals your account's drawdown amount.
- Profits above the buffer are paid at 80%.
- You can withdraw from inside the buffer, but doing so closes the account, and those profits are paid at 50%.
Withdrawals
- From day one, and daily after that.
- No minimum profitable days, no payout windows and no maximum withdrawal amount.
- US traders use Plaid or ACH. International traders use PayPal or Wise.
- TPT says payouts typically arrive within one business day.
Other PRO rules
- Consistency: none.
- News: no trading around specific major events, listed in TPT's help center. Our database notes FOMC, NFP and CPI, with a one-minute flat window either side.
- Contracts: a maximum per account size. TPT's homepage says there is no scaling plan on PRO.
- Accounts: up to 5 PRO accounts at once, with copy trading across them.
- Resets: TPT's homepage lists up to 3 PRO resets.
- Fees: no monthly fee on PRO.
PRO+ account rules
- Access: by review only. TPT looks at consistency, risk management, execution and discipline over time. It does not publish a fixed threshold.
- Drawdown: end-of-day for new PRO+ accounts.
- Buffer: none.
- Split: 90/10, with daily withdrawals.
- Same as PRO: contract limits and news restrictions.
- Activity: at least one trade a week to keep the account open.
- Fees: no fee to move from PRO to PRO+, and no monthly fee.
Platforms
- CQG data: NinjaTrader, TradingView and Tradovate.
- Rithmic data: R|Trader, Quantower and MotiveWave.
- TPT says it supports 15+ platforms in total. Some are free and some are paid, per its help center.
Where traders trip up
- No daily stop: with the daily limit removed, one bad session can use your whole drawdown.
- One big day: it won't fail you, but it extends the Test, and each extra month costs money.
- The PRO switch: intraday drawdown punishes letting winners run back.
- Early withdrawals: taking money inside the buffer ends the account at a 50% split.
- Funded news blackouts: a habit of trading the release in the Test breaks PRO rules.

Common questions
Does the Take Profit Trader Test have a daily loss limit?
No. TPT's current official pages say the Test has no daily loss limit. The end-of-day trailing drawdown is the only loss rule. Confirm on TPT's site before you buy, since rules change.
What is the drawdown on a 50K Test?
$2,000, trailing your highest end-of-day balance. It stops trailing once your minimum balance reaches $50,000.
Can I withdraw on my first day in PRO?
Yes, for profit above the buffer, which equals your drawdown. Profit above it is paid at 80%. Withdrawing inside the buffer closes the account.
How do I get a PRO+ account?
By invitation after TPT reviews your PRO trading. It weighs consistency, risk management, execution and discipline. There is no fee to move up.
