Is Take Profit Trader Legit?

Take Profit Trader (TPT) is an operating US futures prop firm with a named company, a Florida address and a named founder. Like its peers, it sells a simulated evaluation, and its funded PRO accounts are simulated too. Whether TPT is legit for you comes down to how well you understand its subscription billing, buffer rule and drawdown switch. This guide covers what TPT discloses and what to check before you pay. Facts were checked on TPT's own site and help center on 3 November 2026.

For the general version of this question, read are prop firms legit?

Short answer

  • TPT names its company, TakeProfitTrader LLC, and a street address in Windermere, Florida.
  • TPT's FAQ states "all PRO accounts are simulated (SIM)."
  • TPT says 36.22% of Trading Tests were passed in 2025. We found no published payout rate on its homepage.
  • The rules to read first are the monthly billing, the buffer and the switch to intraday drawdown in PRO.

Who runs Take Profit Trader

The footer of takeprofittrader.com lists:

  • Company: TakeProfitTrader LLC.
  • Address: 9100 Conroy Windermere Rd, Suite 200, Windermere, FL 34786.

TPT's about page names James Sixsmith as founder and CEO. It says he previously founded Trade Context, which combined trading education with third-party funding. We did not find a founding year on the TPT pages we checked.

How the business model works

You buy a Test as a monthly subscription, so your cost depends on how long you take. Prices start at $150 a month for the 25K, per TPT's homepage. Our Take Profit Trader review lists every size.

Pass the Test and you move to a PRO account. TPT's homepage comparison lists a one-time $130 PRO activation fee, which promotions sometimes waive. TPT's FAQ is clear that PRO accounts are simulated. Payouts are based on those simulated results.

TPT may later invite traders to PRO+, which pays a 90% split. Moving up is by invitation.

What TPT publishes about results and payouts

TPT's footer states that between 1 January and 31 December 2025, 36.22% of all Trading Tests were passed. We did not find a published share of PRO traders who received a payout, or a total-paid figure, on the homepage. That gap is worth noting, since several rivals publish one.

TPT's about page says: "We built a wallet system so you can withdraw your profits instantly, whenever you want."

Payout terms

TPT's profit split article and site state:

  • PRO pays 80/20. PRO+ pays 90%.
  • The buffer equals the account's maximum drawdown amount.
  • Profits above the buffer can be withdrawn daily, from day one, per TPT's homepage.
  • Withdrawing from inside the buffer ends the account.
  • TPT's help center says buffer withdrawals pay 50% if the account is under 60 days old, and 80% if over 60 days.

Is Take Profit Trader regulated?

TPT does not claim a regulatory license or registration for itself on the pages we checked. Its FAQ says it uses "ONLY regulated brokers who pass stringent compliance by the NFA and CFTC." Its disclaimer references CFTC Rule 4.41, the standard warning about hypothetical results.

Using regulated brokers for data and execution is not the same as the prop firm being regulated. You are buying an evaluation service, not opening a brokerage account. TPT also states it does not support trading in stocks, options, forex, crypto or CFDs.

Rules that cause most disputes

Most prop firm complaints trace back to a rule the trader missed. At TPT, read these first:

  • Monthly billing: the Test is a subscription, so a slow pass costs more.
  • Drawdown switch: the Test uses end-of-day trailing, but PRO trails intraday, including open profit.
  • Buffer rule: pulling money from inside the buffer closes the PRO account.
  • Consistency: in the Test, no single day can reach 50% of the profit target. It does not fail you but delays your pass.
  • News: funded accounts must be flat around major releases such as FOMC, NFP and CPI.
  • No overnight holding.
  • PRO+ activity: at least one trade a week to keep the account active.

Red flags checklist

Apply this list to TPT or any other firm:

  • No named company or address.
  • No disclosure that funded accounts are simulated.
  • No published pass or payout rates.
  • Payout rules that sit only in marketing copy.
  • Broad discretion clauses to refuse payouts.
  • Rules changed on live accounts without notice.
  • Claims of regulation that turn out to refer only to a partner broker.

TPT names its company and discloses simulated accounts and its Test pass rate. It does not publish a payout rate on its homepage, and its regulation wording refers to the brokers it uses.

How to protect yourself

  1. Work through our challenge checklist before you pay.
  2. Track your billing date and cancel the Test if you stop trading.
  3. Trade smaller in your first PRO weeks while you adjust to intraday drawdown.
  4. Do not withdraw from inside the buffer unless you accept losing the account.
  5. Check TPT's terms for its refund policy before buying.
  6. Only spend money on fees that you can afford to lose.

Is Take Profit Trader real money?

Not on PRO accounts. TPT's FAQ says all PRO accounts are simulated. PRO+ is offered by invitation.

Does Take Profit Trader pay out?

TPT advertises daily withdrawals from PRO once profits exceed the buffer. It does not publish a payout rate on its homepage, so judge it by its written rules.

Is Take Profit Trader regulated?

TPT does not claim its own registration on the pages we checked. It says it uses regulated brokers. Its disclaimer cites CFTC Rule 4.41 on simulated results.
