Review methodology

How we score prop firms

Every FundedKings score out of 5 comes from the same five factors, checked against each firm's own published rules. Here is what we look at, where the data comes from, and what a score can and can't tell you.

Who writes our reviews

Reviews, scores and guides on FundedKings are researched and written by the FundedKings Editorial Team. Every score uses the method on this page, whether or not we earn money from the firm. Partners cannot buy a rating, a higher rank or a softer review.

The five factors behind every score

A firm's score out of 5 is an editorial judgment across five factors. We weigh them together rather than adding up a fixed formula, because a rule that matters a lot to one style of trader can matter little to another. Each review explains the strengths and catches that drove the score.

1. Rule fairness

We look at how realistic the profit targets are for the account size, which type of drawdown applies (static, balance-based, end-of-day trailing or intraday trailing), whether a consistency rule caps your best day, and what the firm restricts around news releases, weekend holding and minimum trading days. Rules that are easy to break by accident, or that change between the evaluation and the funded account, lower the score.

2. Pricing

We compare the fee per dollar of account size, whether the fee is refunded, and any activation fees, monthly charges, reset prices or paid add-ons needed to unlock standard features. A cheap headline price with high recurring or hidden costs scores worse than a fair, one-time price.

3. Payout reliability and speed

We check how soon you can request your first payout, how often you can withdraw after that, the profit split, any payout caps or buffers, and which payment methods are available. Limited payout methods or long waits before the first withdrawal lower the score.

4. Platform choice

We record the supported trading platforms, the instruments you can trade, and the firm's rules on expert advisors, bots and copy trading. More choice and clearly published automation rules score higher.

5. Transparency

We judge how clearly and consistently the firm publishes its rules. Terms that are easy to find, written in plain language and consistent across the firm's own pages score higher. Where a firm's official pages contradict each other, we say so in the review.

Where our data comes from

  • Official sources only. Prices, targets, loss limits and payout rules come from the firm's own website, help center or terms. Each challenge in our rules database links to the page we checked.
  • Last verified dates. Reviews and challenge pages show when we last confirmed the details, so you can see how fresh they are.
  • Drafts, not guesses. If we can't verify a firm's rules from an official source, the review stays unpublished until we can.

What a score does not tell you

A high score means a firm's rules, pricing and payouts compare well with other firms. It does not mean you will pass. Prop firm evaluations use simulated capital and most traders do not pass. Always match the firm to how you trade: a futures day trader and a forex swing trader can reasonably prefer different firms with similar scores.

Updates and corrections

Firms change their rules often, so we re-check published firms regularly and update the score when the rules change enough to matter. Spotted something out of date? Email hello@fundedkings.com and we will check it against the firm's official pages.
