FTMO and Take Profit Trader (TPT) trade different markets. FTMO's Challenges cover forex and CFDs. TPT sells futures evaluations, called the Test, on a monthly subscription. Choose the market before the firm. Every price and rule here was checked on each firm's official pages on 3 November 2026.
Choose your market first
CFD accounts measure limits in percentages and allow swing trading during the evaluation. Futures accounts use dollar limits, set contract caps and close you out daily. Our guide to forex vs futures prop firms explains the trade-offs.
FTMO now also sells FTMO Futures, separate from its CFD Challenges. The FTMO Futures comparison table lists Growth plans at $119, $169 and $229 a month and Pro plans at $139, $199 and $269. Both use an end-of-day trailing drawdown, and neither has an activation fee. Read more in FTMO launches FTMO Futures. Below, we compare FTMO's CFD Challenges with TPT.

Take Profit Trader (monthly, USD)

- Test: $150 (25K), $170 (50K), $245 (75K), $330 (100K), $360 (150K) a month.
- PRO activation: a one-time $130 fee, per TPT's homepage.
TPT's homepage was running an Early Black Friday sale with code NOFEE50, advertised as 50% off for life with the activation fee waived. Codes change, so check at checkout.
What this means: FTMO's cost is fixed once you buy. TPT's grows each month you stay in the Test. A 50K Test passed in month one costs $170 plus $130 activation without a code. Passed in month three, it costs $510 plus $130.
Profit targets and loss limits
FTMO
From FTMO's trading objectives:
- 2-Step: 10% then 5% targets, 5% Max Daily Loss, 10% Max Loss, 4 minimum trading days.
- 1-Step: 10% target, 3% Max Daily Loss, 10% Max Loss. For orders from 12 October 2026, your best day must not exceed 50% of total profit.
- No time limit.
Take Profit Trader Test
- Target: 6%, or $3,000 on 50K, per our rules database.
- Max drawdown: $2,000 on 50K and $3,000 on 100K, per our rules database.
- Daily loss limit: none. TPT's homepage shows the old limit struck through as removed.
- Consistency: your best day must be under 50% of total profit, per TPT's consistency rule. Breaking it delays a PRO account rather than failing the Test.
- Minimum days: the homepage says the fastest path is 3 trading days. The consistency help page mentions a 5-day minimum. Check with TPT before you plan around it.
Drawdown type
- FTMO 2-Step: static 10% floor that never moves.
- FTMO 1-Step: trails your highest end-of-day balance.
- TPT Test: end-of-day trailing, stopping at the starting balance, per our rules database.
- TPT PRO: intraday trailing. TPT's drawdown article says it follows your peak balance, including unrealized gains, and stops at the starting balance.
- TPT PRO+: end-of-day drawdown, per the homepage.
The switch to intraday trailing on PRO is a real change in risk. Our guide to end-of-day vs intraday trailing drawdown explains why.
Payouts and profit split

Verdict
Choose the market first. FTMO suits CFD traders who want wide percentage limits and a one-off fee. TPT suits futures day traders who value fast, uncapped withdrawals and can handle intraday trailing on PRO. A slow TPT pass costs more each month. If you want futures but prefer FTMO, compare FTMO Futures as well.
