FundedNext vs Topstep
FundedNext vs Topstep: forex/CFD Stellar plans and the new FundedNext Futures desk vs Topstep's monthly Combine. Prices, drawdown, payouts, verdict.

FundedNext is best known for forex and CFD challenges. Topstep is a futures-only firm. FundedNext's own site now sells a separate futures desk, FundedNext Futures, with one-time-fee plans. This guide compares that desk with Topstep's Trading Combine, and notes where FundedNext's CFD side fits. Rules and prices were checked on each firm's official site and help center on 3 November 2026.
Pick your market first
Forex and futures challenges work differently. CFD accounts usually allow weekend holds and use percentage rules. Futures accounts use dollar rules, exchange hours and contract limits. If you are not sure which market fits you, read our guide to forex vs futures prop firms first.
- You trade forex pairs, gold or index CFDs on MetaTrader: Topstep has nothing for you. Look at FundedNext's Stellar challenges.
- You trade CME futures: compare FundedNext Futures with Topstep. That is the main part of this guide.

From FundedNext's price list and futures page:
- Flex: list prices $141.99 (50K), $273.99 (100K) and $490.99 (150K). With the coupon, the first two purchases cost $74.99, $144.99 and $259.99. The futures page names the code FNFLEX.
- Rapid Pro and Rapid Daily: from $79.99 for 25K. Two help pages disagree on the 50K and 100K prices ($149.99 or $169.99 for 50K), so confirm at checkout.
- Direct: $169.99 offer price for a $50K funded account with no evaluation.
- Refunds: the challenge terms say all purchases are final.
Topstep (monthly)
From Topstep's pricing article:
- Standard Path: $49 (50K), $99 (100K), $199 (150K) a month, plus $149 for each XFA you earn.
- No Activation Fee Path: $95, $149 or $229 a month, with no activation fee.
- Discounts: the article lists 15% off a first purchase with a referral code. Our deals list has no current Topstep code.

What this means: FundedNext's Flex 50K costs $74.99 once with the coupon. Topstep's 50K Standard Path costs $49 for the first month and $149 when you pass. A two-month pass costs $247 at Topstep.
If you want FundedNext for forex
The Stellar challenges are a different product. They start at $32.99 for a 5K Stellar Lite account. Every Stellar plan uses a static max loss and no time limit. Weekend holding is allowed. The Stellar 2-Step page showed code NOVSTR with "save up to 41%" when we checked. Our Stellar rules guide covers them in full.
Profit targets and loss limits
FundedNext Futures
- Flex: $2,500, $5,000 or $8,000 target. Max loss of $1,500, $2,500 or $4,000. No daily loss limit. A 40% consistency rule applies in the challenge. Flex rules.
- Rapid Pro: $1,500, $3,000 or $5,000 target (25K, 50K, 100K). Max loss of $1,000, $2,000 or $2,500. The daily loss limit is an optional add-on that lowers the price. No consistency rule in the challenge. Rapid Pro rules.
- Rapid Daily: same targets and max loss, with a standard daily loss limit of $500, $1,000 or $1,250.
- Time limit: none on Flex or Rapid.
Topstep Trading Combine
- Targets: $3,000 (50K), $6,000 (100K), $9,000 (150K), per our rules database.
- Maximum Loss Limit: $2,000, $3,000 or $4,500. Topstep says it is monitored in real time.
- Daily loss limit: optional at checkout: $1,000, $2,000 or $3,000. Hitting it ends your session but is not a violation.
- Consistency target: your best day should stay below 55% of the profit target, per the Combine parameters.
What this means: at 50K, FundedNext Rapid and Topstep ask for the same $3,000 with the same $2,000 limit. Flex asks for less profit but gives less room: $1,500, and only 3 minis. Topstep's 100K needs $6,000; FundedNext's Rapid 100K needs $5,000.
Drawdown type
Both firms trail your end-of-day balance. Both also breach you if open losses touch the floor during the day. The lock point differs:
- FundedNext: the floor stops at the starting balance plus $100, such as $50,100 on a 50K.
- Topstep: the floor locks at the starting balance in the Combine. On an XFA it is set to $0 after your first payout.
FundedNext's Stellar CFD plans are different again: their max loss is static. See end-of-day vs intraday trailing drawdown for worked examples, or test numbers in the drawdown calculator.
Payouts and splits
FundedNext Futures
- Flex: 95% share. Five benchmark days of $200 ($250 on 150K) per cycle. Each payout is up to 50% of profit, capped at $1,500, $2,500 or $4,000. Flex funded rules.
- Rapid Pro: 90% share, rewards every 3 days, a 40% consistency rule and caps of $800, $1,200 or $2,500. Rapid Pro funded rules.
- Rapid Daily: 90%, daily rewards above a buffer, same caps.
- End point: Flex and Rapid Daily funded accounts conclude after the 5th reward.
Topstep
- Split: 90/10, per the payout policy.
- Standard eligibility: five winning days of $150 or more.
- Consistency eligibility: three trading days, best day at most 40% of profit.
- Caps: 50% of the balance, up to $2,000, $3,000 or $5,000 on the Standard path.
- Live Funded: no dollar cap, still limited to 50% of the balance per request.
Flex pays the highest share here, but its funded account ends after five rewards. Topstep has a stated path to live capital. Our payout rules guide explains caps and buffers.
Platforms and instruments
- FundedNext Futures: Tradovate, NinjaTrader and TradingView. Contracts cover index, metals, energy and currency futures on CME, NYMEX and COMEX.
- Topstep: TopstepX is the only platform. Futures only.
Restrictions
- Overnight: neither firm allows it. Topstep's trading day ends at 3:10 PM CT. FundedNext's terms say positions must close before the end of the trading day.
- News: Topstep bans trading your full maximum size into a major scheduled release. FundedNext's futures pages we read did not state a news rule, so check before trading releases.
- Bots: FundedNext allows them but may review or disable a system. Its terms ban hedging across accounts and repeated tiny scalps.
- Countries: FundedNext's country list does not say either way for the US. Ask support before you buy.
Downsides of each
FundedNext Futures
- Help pages conflict on some Rapid prices.

- Funded accounts end after five rewards on Flex and Rapid Daily.
- The futures desk is new, with little public history.
Topstep
- Monthly billing until you pass or cancel.
- $149 activation on the Standard Path.
- One platform only.
- Capped XFA payouts.
Who each suits
- Forex and CFD traders: FundedNext Stellar. Topstep has no forex.
- Futures traders who want a one-time fee: FundedNext Flex or Rapid.
- NinjaTrader or TradingView users: FundedNext Futures.
- Traders who want a long-run path to live capital: Topstep.
- Traders who like a built-in daily stop: Topstep with the optional limit, or FundedNext Rapid Daily.
Verdict
Choose the market first. For forex, only FundedNext applies. For futures, both are workable. FundedNext Futures is cheaper to start and supports more platforms. Its plans are new, and some funded accounts end after five rewards. Topstep costs more if you pass slowly, but its rules are mature. Read our FundedNext review and Topstep review before you decide.
