Is Apex Trader Funding Legit?

Apex Trader Funding is an established futures evaluation firm with published rules, a large public help center and payout figures on its homepage. Whether it is "legit" for you depends on understanding what you buy: a one-time fee for a 30-day simulated evaluation, then a simulated Performance Account with capped payouts. This guide sets out what Apex publishes and what to check before you pay. Facts were checked on Apex's own site on 5 November 2026.

Short answer

  • Apex publishes its evaluation, Performance Account and payout rules in detail in its help center.
  • Its evaluations and Performance Accounts are simulated. Apex describes the program as trading "simulated markets" for cash rewards, with a possible invite to a live account later.
  • Its payout totals are self-reported on its homepage, not independently audited figures.
  • The main risks are rule-based: a 30-day window with no resets, an intraday trailing drawdown option, a 50% payout consistency rule and a limit of six payouts per account.

What Apex publishes about payouts

Apex's homepage shows these figures, which it describes as compensation to customers:

  • $900.59M total compensation since 2022.
  • $28.03M average monthly compensation since April 2024.
  • $65.11M in the last 90 days.

These are Apex's own numbers. They show that Apex pays out at scale, but not what share of traders get paid. Like other prop firms, most buyers of an evaluation do not reach a payout.

The homepage also displays a 4.2 rating from 22K reviews. Read recent reviews yourself on the review platform rather than relying on the badge.

How the business model works

Since 1 March 2026 Apex sells one-time evaluations with no recurring billing. You choose an Intraday Trail or EOD Trail drawdown, a size from 25K to 150K, and a payment path: Standard, which adds a one-time activation fee after you pass, or No Activation Fee. Our Apex review lists every price.

Pass and you activate a Performance Account (PA) within 7 days. Approved payouts are paid at a 100% split, but each PA allows at most six payouts, each with a cap, and then closes. Accounts bought before March 2026 stay on Apex's legacy rules.

Rules that cause most failed payouts

  • 30 days, no resets: an evaluation expires after 30 days, and a breach means buying a new one.
  • Intraday trailing drawdown: on Intraday accounts the floor follows your peak balance in real time, including open profit.
  • 50% consistency on payouts: no single profitable day can be 50% or more of profit since your last payout.
  • Safety net: you must keep your balance above the drawdown limit plus $100, and only profit above that can be withdrawn.
  • Automatic denial: Apex advertises "no payout denials", but its payout article says a request is denied automatically if your balance falls below the minimum after you submit it. Trade as if the requested amount has already left the account.
  • Hedging: passing evaluations by hedging accounts against each other is prohibited and leads to closure.

Checklist before you buy

  1. Read the help center articles for the exact account type you are buying, not just the homepage.
  2. Confirm the activation fee at checkout if you pick the Standard path.
  3. Check Apex's restricted countries list.
  4. Decide whether you can realistically hit the target inside 30 days.
  5. Compare the total cost with other futures firms in our prop firm cost calculator.
